Monarch of the Glen: This astonishing photo of the Queen was taken at her beloved Balmoral and marks the 60th anniversary of her Coronation. Robert Hardman tells the behind-the-scenes story
The face is the most familiar on the planet, reproduced on more coins, notes and stamps than any human likeness in history. But it is safe to say that we have never seen Her Majesty the Queen pictured quite like this. Not only is she in the full and elaborate regalia of her most exclusive order of chivalry but she is standing in the middle of nowhere.
No trick photography has taken place. There has been no digital enhancement by some special effects boffin. This spectacular image of the Sovereign – published in Weekend for the very first time – really is the Queen, standing next to a remote stream called Gelder Burn on her Balmoral Estate.
She is dressed in the green velvet mantle of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, the Scottish counterpart to England’s Order of the Garter. From her shoulders, held by white satin ties, hangs the Collar of the Order made of golden thistles and rue sprigs, from which, in turn, hangs a tiny St Andrew and his saltire cross.

At the wedding of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie and in Pucci at Queen Margrethe’s jubilee gala
its not even 11pm on a Friday night and Im going to bed. Most people I know are probably out drinking and having sex with random strangers they met in the strip club they got into using their fake IDs. Not me, no, Im the girl who puts on her sweats and the most action I get is when my dog decides she wants to cuddle.

And my boyfriend already corrected one of the commentators….. I’VE FUCKING TRAINED HIM SO WELL!!
Haha, what did he have to correct?

Grace Kelly once gave an interview to the JFK Library in 1965 about an amusing experience she had with the then-Senator John F. Kennedy in the 50’s.
GALLICO: Was [the trip to the White House with Prince Rainer in 1962] the first time that you had met the President?
GRACE: Actually, no. The first time was before he became the President, during that year he was in the hospital in New York with his back. I had been to a dinner party where I had met Mrs. Kennedy and her sister [Lee Radziwill] the first time. They asked me to go to the hospital with them to pay a visit and help cheer him up. They wanted me to go into his room and say I was the new night nurse.
GALLICO: That was a quaint idea. Did you?
GRACE: Well I hesitated! I was terribly embarrassed. Eventually I was sort of pushed into his room by the two girls. I introduced myself, but he had recognized me at once and couldn’t have been sweeter or more quick to put me at ease.
I’ve always loved this story!
